HOWICOMPOSE
As a filmmaker, I have a pretty good sense of the emotion and intention of a scene. We'll have a conversation about your direction, style, genre, themes, and inspirations. From there it's finding the "note" that will set the tone for the entire project. Once all of things are in place, the score starts to come together and compliment the visuals.
BEHINDTHEMUSIC:
"ONECLICK"
I was asked to create the score for the short film "One Click" by producers Dean Laverick and Kara Battle. Centered around a gang of outlaws on the run looking for a big heist, the music needed to be period specific, but also have a modern twist. Inspiration naturally came from Ennio Morricone and the Spaghetti Western genre.
MYMUSICINFLUENCES
My influences are all over the map and that's exactly how I like it. For film, I love composers like Alexandre Desplat for out-of-the-box scores, Philip Glass for structure and restraint, and Trent Reznor for heavy emotional punch. But I listen to everything from Daft Punk to Tate McRae to whatever Spotify throws at me on a random Tuesday.
I don't have a favorite genre. I just love music. Full stop.
